Nightlife at Lake Balaton
Summer at Balaton is unimaginable without the atmosphere of the evenings. It is an unforgettable experience to sit on the terrace of your summer cottage or the grass of the beach on clear nights by moonshine and just admire the Silver Bridge, the reflection of moonlight on the mirror of the lake and to watch the dance of yacht silhouettes in the harbour nearby. It is amazing to listen to the tinkling of the ropes on the mats agitated by a spanking breeze or to inhale the very characteristic Balaton scent in which the smell of the lake’s wildlife and the savour of grilled fish are mingled. Our day-dreaming is only interrupted by the thumping noise, snatches of music and beams of rays from the nearby night clubs and then we are awaken to realize: time to make a night of it!
The promenades and shopping streets of major towns around the lake are transformed into a real party street at night. Icemen, confectionery open until late at night, street stalls, candy-floss, playgrounds still crowded in the evening, bars with neon lights and music gradually becoming louder, these all create a unique atmosphere between that of an amusement park and an entertainment district so characteristic of Balaton.
If you are filled with dry-land experience, the crowd and the noise you will easily find a - not necessarily less crowded - music pub on the lake itself: several cruise ship and yacht companies offer evening programmes on one of their boats.
For those wishing to enjoy peace, closeness to nature, the lights and the special atmosphere of the lake at night, we recommend one of the yacht charters. While poppling with your boat on the water, fishing and sipping some fine wine you may fully enjoy the blessings of Balaton.
