Cultural events at Lake Balaton

To the fans of Balaton, until recently the lake has mainly meant a holiday on the beach, a “seaside” adventure in a land without sea. During the pas two decades, however, the region has become a holiday resort offering a huge variety of programmes from which anyone can find one suitable for them. Among traditional festivals and events, sports competitions and fine gastronomic experience, visitors will surely find something that catches their fancy. When visiting any of the villages and towns around Balaton, it is worth checking the seasonal programmes of the place either on wall-press or the internet: there are cooking contests on the palette, wine festivals and other wine tasting events, arts and crafts workshops, classical and pop music concerts, temporary exhibitions, street parties, season opening and season closing party, hiking, regattas, swimming competitions and many more. The picturesque environment furthermore has always attracted artists (actors, painters) several of whom have chosen this region for their summer resort or lived part of their life next to Balaton.
