Balatonederics

The settlement is said to have been founded in 1262 and the roman catholic church of the village dates from the 13th Century. A part of the village is now a summer resort, visitors will find a lot of places to stay:  the two camp sites and the B&Bs near the shore, as well in the centre. The best known place here is however the Africa Museum and Safari Park of the village, founded by the reputed hunter Endre Nagy dr., son of Balatonederics who spent a part of his life hunting and collecting objects in Tanzania, Afrika. A rich collection of artefacts including trophies and African ethnographic objects is on display at the museum, the former mansion of Nagy. Although not indigenous to the region, camels, buffaloes and zebras are resident of the Safari Park next door.
