OUTSTANDING attention to detail on the debunking. I think a lot of people could've been deceived without you digging deeper on the little things. The Giannis part was the most powerful part, but also finishing the Chronicle part which sums simply.

Typical MJ fanboy exagerating the terrible 90's era to exagerate the exagerated MJ 6/6 (with 2 vacation years)... lol.

Don't worry. At some point. People won't give three fucks about MJ, LBJ, and Kareem (shit, people don't even care about Kareem TODAY!)...

So. The GOAT is just stupid. Scottie Pippen though.... Scottie Pippen

Fuck both of these videos! MJ's last second Utah shot was an offensive foul, Refs destroyed the Kings, LeBron, Harden, I.Thomas and many more average 15ppg out of travels and flops, Lenard refuses to play... I only like Jokic now, he's timeless, the rest is BS.

I'm only 1:28 into the video and I already agree with your stance on Jimmy High Roller's video. I saw it too and I can tell he doesn't understand what he was seeing. It's probably because he wasn't actually alive to see those games but that's just my opinion.. Even when you account for "era" some era were just easier to score, steal, shot block, etc in than others period and point blank. Because of that the GOAT convo can still happen and actually contain an answer. The "Depends on the Era" talking point really means "I'm too lazy to critically analyze and stay consistent so I'm going to bow out without taking the hard L I deserve"

Well you only research what you want because at the end of games you would here the announcers talking about and clearly see it as it happened. That was a huge part of the game and people like Barkley MJ and the few other stars that had handles took advantage of. In the playoffs yea the teams played really rough but the teams in the wast were high flying run ang gun style and scored over 100 points the east teams was boring to watch with scores like 85 to 88 and in the playoffs they had the advantage they nwould slow the game down and were physical and had a huge advantage they would wear the west teams down by knocking the crap out of them and keeping it close to try to win at the end. If that is the style of play they still used NBA would be bankrupt. But you take teams like GS, , suns, Portland, and lots of other west teams scores were like today 115 - 125. And look at the time when scoring shot up, about the time Stef came into the NBA and 3 point shooting and team play started becoming the norm. And did you see BB in those days because clearing out to let the star go 1 on 1 and seeing illegal "D" was the norm back then and of course illegal "D" was subjective and home court was a huge advantage because of the refs where one team gets those shit illegal "D" calls at the right times and would give teams huge advatages. The real reason the game changed so much and is more fun then ever is team ball and a hell of alot more super stars even shit teams like the Timberwolves have players that would of killed those fools that poeple like you try to discredit to remember the good old boring BB days that is supose to be so great. Are you trying to tell people that BB was more fun to watch back then and players now days could not play back then when players are on the avererage, way more talented way bigger and way faster. Then keep feeding the BS. If there was social media and people could replay how the east teams played you call ZAZA dirty and cry dramond dirty well in the playoffs when west coast teams played the east (which is where west coast teams and fans seen this garbage they call Basket ball) more like WWE the fans would be crying bloody murder and what the east coast refs would allow. Which was way above and beyond BB it was complete shit. I see and here so much of this bull trying to protect legacys or what ever some bias fools point they are trying to get across and all it is is bull shit. These stars like Bron Curry KD Greek freak, harden and any mega star I left out there was nobody back then except maybe MJ and he would not be so great playing now days he might be a mega but not god and the rest shit all these super stars and all stars = people left off the all stars would of been mega stars back then. And one more thing about this rough play you all are so proud of yea there was a little but to make it look like the norm you would have to show the the same things over and over. There was a price to pay for that shit people fought back and that kept it to a minimum because people are chicken shits by nature and these are BB players not fighters how much footage have you seen of people really getting fucked up. Not many for all the years mutiply that by all the games played in the glory days and it aint much. Even back then if someone got beat up like in a UFC fight it was all over the news and when I say UFC fight I dont mean all out battle I mean 1 or two good punches and some fool got knocked out. Most game you seen it was just like the games you see now days but if there was teams with bad blood it would get a little rough but it does now day too. Look at rondo and cp or rockets going into clippers locker room looking to kick ass these NBA players are not pussys like fools like this want you to believe it is just it hurts your team alot more now days if they fight and the pocket book. The same bleeding hearts that cry about ZAZA are the ones that talk how great the glory days were to protect some stupid fucking legacy or to prove some lame point. BB is so much better now days its not even funny. that is why BB is so big now big talented players team ball it make every fan believe there team might have a chance to have a great year or at least take down one of the big boys when they come to town. Back then you knew who was going to win every game and most championships. And if your team did not have an iso star you were fucked. The playoffs were a mess with the shit refs making way more chicken shit calls and changing the outcome of games. So you just keep telling fans how bad the players now days suck and how great BB was back then keep lying to yourself and the fans

Handchecking does make a big difference....you dont play do you? Zones are easy to break with shooters and hand checking makes it harder to take someone off the dribble.when you make your move and a guy holds your hip it slows you down

                              1. 90s defense way overrated, 2000s defense was as rough, but they could actually play zone.
                              2. Imagine if Lebron or KD could play 1 on 1 the whole game similar to how Jordan played.

#1 What this video doesn't mention is how the Pistons were involved in the rule changes each time; with the Spurs/Pistons Finals being the catalyst the last time. What the league didn't get is that Ben Wallace was a legit face of the game quality player. Blocks and dunks. That's what fans have traditionally wanted. But they made it all about easy drives and dunks. And now it's all about 2 guys sitting in the corner waiting to take a three. Every play in the playoffs has become predictable; drive and kick. I don't want 80's hockey style ball, but give me the 2004 rules again with the modern focus on the three and there's a decent balance.

The league rule changes were a result of the NBA talent pool being so diluted from 88-94. You had what, 6 new teams in that time frame? Plus roster expansion from 12-14 man active rosters I believe. So like a 20%+ increase in the league talent pool. Hence more flopping and rule manipulation.

Hand checking was legal within the free throw line extended growing up (early-mid 90s). Pretty much 100% allowed. That's the way it should be. Otherwise you have to body your man which ends up being way more contact from both sides.

Alright I agree with your video, but i've got one big gripe. One of the biggest reasons that 70's-early 90's NBA was tougher defensively was the bigmen in the paint combined with the fact that 3 point shooting was not a major factor. Handchecking is important to both perimeter and interior play. In fact, I think you would be hard pressed to find ANY footage of bigman era NBA basketball where the post man is not getting hand checked. A huge change that you have to think about too is the flagrant foul rules. Today you get a flagrant 1 or 2 for the same contact that would be a simple shooting foul in the 80's.

This is probably the best amateur (he doesn't have a team of researchers and this video wasn't created on a budget) YouTube video I've ever watched when it comes to discussing a major sport. No fanboyism. Facts shown along with screenshots of the quotes, screen grabs of BBall-Ref.com pages for statistics. This video's thesis seems simple, yet a LOT of research must have gone into it. I'm wasn't a regular visitor, but I am now. Subbed & Ding-Dong'd.

I was born in 1975 in Massachusetts. So, I literally began my NBA following in 1980 and it remained my second favorite sport until about 2001 or 2002 for various reasons that are unimportant at the moment. I've really soured on the NBA game. I've watched a few playoff games this year. It amazes me how often I was seeing all 5 offensive players surrounding the 3-point arc so whoever had the ball could 1-on-1 to the basket and no one collapsing in on defense to try and stop the drive to the hoop. If someone did, that leaves open an offensive player to jack a 3 if the driving player feels like giving up the ball. There has always been isolation plays in basketball, but it seems that's all there is now is offensive Iso plays or 3-jumpers or a screen at the top of the free throw circle and a 3-pointer jacked from there.

I'm on BBall_Ref.com right now and seeing how from 1983 to 1986 the league had an average of 110.x points per game. Those three years, in chronological order had 2.4, 3.1 & 3.3 three point field goal attempts on average per team. The league average 3PA finally exceeded 10 for the 1994-1995 season when the 3-point line was brought in around the top, making it a uniform 22 feet for every 3 point shot location. At the moment, in the 2018-2019 season teams are averaging 32.0 three point attempts per game. 32!! That is just slightly over 1/3rd on a teams shots on average.

The game of basketball has evolved so much over the years. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but it is a fact. I grew bored of the NBA several years back. I have a feeling it has a lot to do with the points I just made about 3's in the game along with the defensive rules changing that Legend of Winning so expertly showed us.

James Hardin is really smart and I admire him for it, but I would love to see players get away with stronger contact on fouls. I definitely don't want illegal defense to come back and I like the defensive three in the key too.

Watching this playoffs though and what is the deal with not dropping down to the paint after someone like Harden takes advantage of the spacing? Meaning, there's a lot of isolation, then drives to the basket, but a lot of times no one down low will come off to try and block or knock the ball away. They just let in an easy layup or dunk. Is it because now a man is open? Well if that's the case, that's dumb because I'll take the risk of 2 or 3 from a jump shot then closing the lane on a guaranteed basket. Or am I crazy? lol

Then again, I enjoy defensive based games where players need to rise above their opponent. Not simply trade baskets and hope the other team misses more frequently. Bring back hand checking :) Make the guards earn their salary for once. Will also make post play more exciting.
