I love it. I actually would have been pissed if they changed more than 10 percent of this. If they also put a spin on the movie it’s Lion King 1 1/2 which came out and was terrible lol.

If only they brought back Nathan Lane I could look past a lot. Same way if Aladdin would have had Gilbert Godfrey

I was soo excited back when the jungle book "live action" had come out because I heard they would most likely make the lion king as well.
It was and still is one of my favorite childhood movies but WTF how come the animals in the Jungle book all seem to show and express emotion INCLUDING both Bagheera and Shere Khan which are also big cats, yet just as you say all the animals in the lion king seem souless.
One of my favorite scenes is when Mufasa tells Zazu "take nala home I need to teach my son a lesson" and Simba cowers in fear yet in the 2019 version he shows nothing.
The movie looked beautiful but the original is 100x's better

As a huge fan of nature documentaries, I loved the fact that the face expressions in this movie were so realistic. I hate when they put human expressions in Animals. Animals can express emotion in different ways and It's very nice to observe that. For me at least

I didn't like that in Jungle Book. If you're gonna make a movie that seems realistic, the animals must look like animals in real life as much as possible. I think

Disney can afford to take chances with this amazing technology and create new stories with greater animation. They literally own the market

Sooooooo.... long story short:why would you do this different,? but I’m mad you didn’t make it more different. But at the same time it’s a shot for shot. But you took the stuff that I specifically wanted and didn’t include it.... cmon lol it was great

Calling it Live Action when it's all CGI.... how stupid have people become. Also, the excuse of having this remake for a newer generation is equally stupid... the 1994 original classic is ALWAYS available for EVERYONE (young and old), which this remake utterly pointless. It's not the same as remaking an old video game with modern graphics, because the 1994 original's animation is just far superior to this 2019 crappy and soulless remake.

Just by seeing the Lion king trailer, I knew this movie is not gonna be as good as The Aladdin remake because at least this movie was done w/ great changes

Being pretty critical of movies in general, I wasn't expecting much from this one. But I was actually surprised. As another massive fan of the original, I thought they provided a good mix of new and original content. The CGI incredible and the story was at least preserved - which is what makes lion king in my opinion the best Disney fill of all. The new Scar was great, shenzu was also surprising in her new role and the world they expanded in Hakuna Matata land was awesome. A couple downsides for me was the armature voice acting especially both Simba's. It's like the actors didn't have a feel for the tone or circumstances when reading the lines, some.came across just flat and unusual. The part where Nala re unites with Simba was to easy and there was almost no surprise shown by her which was wierd. But yes the biggest was the lack of emotions in the characters, like, I get the desire to have it be as real as possible..but during those plot building scenes it was the actual story and not the characters drawing me in. It doesn't have to be like Netflix Jungle book, but somewhere between this and that would have been the sweet spot..just some emotion, not sure why that creative decision was made to leave it out. Other than that I actually really enjoyed it and was moved by the comedy and some new things added..although this did have the potential to be as incredible as the CGI with so much material to work with, definitely worth the watch.

Instead of remaking cartoons into live action, they should remake live action into cartoons.

I feel like people are looking at this film in a way that wasn't intended. I see this remake as a really good way of just showing how well Disney can now visually back up such a great story. I truly reckon it's a great standalone film. To each their own I guess.

I think people should stop complaining and just STOP watching live action remakes because the fact that you're paying money to watch a replicate of the story but with good visuals is the reason disney keeps making them. Because they know there are some people stupid enough to pay for something they don't need

Disney now represents the pinnacle of what's wrong with modern movies. There has been so few original stories hitting theaters in the last decade or so, and now Disney owns so many properties that they can recreate so much nostalgia and have a billion dollar worldwide gross tell them that they're doing the right thing. I predict a bleak future for the film industry. Disney will keep making profit from these nostalgia grabs, while sucking up more and more properties that will make billions of dollars despite how much they've butchered it. And the vast majority of people will just accept it. The only way the future moviegoer will ever see anything original is if the marketing is REALLY strong, or if the person has time to see it between catching the 6th Marvel movie of the year or seeing the new live action Frozen remake

This movie was whack. It felt like Planet Earth with songs over footage...it had no heart, felt like a cliff notes version. Terrible.
And there is NO FUCKING POINT to having photo realistic animals. They can't emote. They can't smile. Or cry. Or laugh. It was just so lame.

I saw the film yesterday, and in all honesty, pretty much enjoyed it. I don't feel every re-make has to have a spin. Maybe we have become so accustomed to spin-offs these days that not having one might feel strange to some. There is something very powerful in the original story and in the characters which draws us in like magic and it works. Despite knowing exactly what is going to happen, I felt every emotion. Go and enjoy it.

Their was a couple of things great about this movie, but too many issues hold this film back. Let's start with the great, Chiwetel FREAKING Ejiofor. How ironic that the first thing people complain about from the first trailer was Scars look and his voice, and he ends up being the best thing about the new Lion King. Holy s$it Chiwetel is SOOO dam good in this movie. Seth and Billy as Timon and Pumba, eh, I think their a little overhyped saying they "steal the show" but, they are what's better in the film compared to the issues. The ending fight scene I loved, it's freaking epic and awesome. Now the issues? The voice acting is so terrible (excluding Chiwetel Ejiofor), I hate to say this but even James Earl Jones sounded very flat. The voice acting in this movie sounds like they recorded every cast member once, and than spent the rest of the time producing the visuals. Mufasa doesn't sound like that STRONG, BRUTE lion that we here him as in the original. James Earl Jones sounds like he just rushed through his lines and was like "Oh all I have to do is say the same exact lines and go home, easy paycheck". And the pacing of this movie is so awkward and feels very rushed. How the bloody hell do you make a 2 hour movie feel way shorter than the only 1 and 20 something minutes original. I am not exaggerating. The original, with it's shorter duration time, feels way longer than this "2 hour movie". For me I think I would compare the voice acting to like a play, the voice acting sounded like they were just doing a play of the original, but we already have the broadway for that. The great: Chiwetel FREAKING Ejiofor (omg he is so good in this), Seth and Billy as Timon and Pumbaa, and the epic end fight. The bad: Terrible voice acting (even including James Earl Jones), super awkward and awful pacing, and extreme lack of emotion.

This film was visually satisfying and that is about it. SOULESS..... Other than Timon and Pumba, the voice acting was meh and Jeremy Iron was badly missed as Scar...... HUGE L for Disney. I give it a D plus or C - at best...... Into the Spiderverse still the best animated film of the last year. Disney better not mess up Frozen 2 up....... And this is an animated film, not a live action. Its CGI animation...

I bet that’s what your mother said when you came out of the womb, “this child feels soulless!!” Seriously I already watched your review of The Aladdin live action movie 🎥and I know you already have a negative 👎🏽 view on these remakes because these films are simply just the same as taking the animated film with less feeling to you.... do you ever actually use your brain 🧠 during these reviews to think 🤔 “oh maybe Disney wants to share these stories with new generations who need to learn some of these life lessons!” .... of course not, but if you could do better go remake this movie your way yourself!!

They paid tribute to the original by not changing the story but updating the animation and re-releasing it.
